Texas Appliance Mail-In Rebate Program

NOTICE OF PROGRAM CLOSURE: The Texas Appliance Mail-In Rebate Program has approved most of the $18.5 million in available funds to help Texans purchase energy efficient appliances. Due to low fund availability, the program closed to new applications on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.

If you already applied for a rebate, your application will be processed and reviewed for eligibility. Please allow up to four weeks for the processing center to show receipt of your application and up to eight weeks to fully verify, process and finalize your rebate application.

Payments for rebate resubmissions will only be fulfilled if funds are still available at the time of a complete and accurate resubmission. Due to low fund availability, your rebate cannot be guaranteed.

Through unclaimed rebate funds, Texas is offering a new appliance rebate program for appliances purchased on or after December 20, 2010. Approximately $18.5 million will be available for this program. The Texas Appliance Mail-in Rebate Program is a traditional mail-in rebate program, and Texas consumers do not reserve funding for an appliance rebate. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are distributed.

Texas residents with a valid Texas residential address may apply for an appliance rebate if they purchase and eligible ENERGY STAR® appliance Search Eligible Appliances and follow all program rules Program Details.

Here are the easy steps to follow, along with the program rules, to complete the rebate application process:

  1. Purchase a qualifying ENERGY STAR® appliance from a Texas retailer or contractor and retain your receipt;
  2. Install the new, qualifying appliance in your valid Texas residential address;
  3. Either properly dispose of or recycle the old appliance being replaced;
  4. Completely fill out a rebate application form, including the appliance disposal or recycling information;
  5. Complete checklist on the Rebate Application Form to ensure you have fulfilled the rebate requirements. Make a copy of the application and supporting documents for your files.
  6. Mail in the completed application form with your receipt and any other required documentation (e.g., disposal or recycling verification) to:

    Application forms will be placed in queue by the postmark date on the envelope of the application. If a postmark is missing, the application will be placed in the queue based on the day it arrives at the processing facility. New applications must be postmarked on or before March 9 to be considered for funding.
  7. Allow up to eight weeks for the support center to verify and process rebate application.

* NOTE: Only ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washers meeting these criteria will be eligible for the Texas Appliance Mail-In Rebate Program. Please check with your retailer before purchasing an ENERGY STAR clothes washer as the rebate program criteria may be more efficient than the current ENERGY STAR criteria (through December 31, 2010). After January 1, 2011, all ENERGY STAR clothes washers will have a Modified Energy Factor 2.0 or greater and Water Factor 6.0 or less and will be eligible for the rebate.

** NOTE: As of Sept. 1, 2010, qualifying ENERGY STAR criteria for high-efficiency gas storage water heaters was upgraded; only those appliances that meet this current standard will be eligible for this program.
